The Curse of Mindwipe: An Extraordinary Outliers Adventure
Can YOU save Robovia from a Decepticon master of the dark arts in this wild mash-up of a module (included here as a free PDF!)?
The provincial villagers of Robovia have fallen prey to the mental powers of one of the Decepticons' most sinister soldiers, and it's up to a team of robot superheroes to save them. A Transformers RPG adventure for 4-6 characters of level 1.
A few months ago I wrote about how much fun I had making characters for the Transformers RPG, and I shared the sheets I put together for a team of robots called the Extraordinary Outliers, who possess special powers beyond those of regular bots (inspired, as most of my Transformers fandom is, by the comics of James Roberts). Yesterday I ran my first Extraordinary Outliers adventure, “The Curse of Mindwipe,” at Gamehole Con in Madison, WI, and I had a total blast. I honestly think the module is just a ton wacky fun, a real mishmash of pop culture remixes from not just Transformers but Lee/Kirby X-Men and Dungeons & Dragons, and I really wanted to share it with y’all, so I laid it out in zine format and am posting it here. This will never be for sale for super obvious reasons, so basically, look at this as nicely formatted fanfiction you can play!
But don’t just take my word that it’s enjoyable! Here’s what my good buddy Joe, one of my playtesters, had to say. :)
“The Curse of Mindwipe” adventure is attached to the bottom of this post as a PDF for your enjoyment. Just in time for Halloween! If you dig what I’m putting out, please consider subscribing — the intent is to have at least one free gaming thing published here each month!
Speaking of spooky adventures, friendly reminder that a few weeks ago I put out a procedurally generated, geometry-bending dungeon crawl inspired by the novel House of Leaves that is prettty creepy and also totally free!
And, though not free, last year I edited together a collection of horror & suspense 5e adventures based on classic albums for my zine anthology Rock & Roll, including modules inspired by Warren Zevon’s Excitable Boy, Nekrogoblikon’s Welcome to Bonkers, the Killers’ Imploding the Mirage, and of course Taylor Swift’s folklore (Taylor, so hot right now!). These adventures are killer and you can grab them in PDF format for just $10 now!
